Grounding And Bonding

Grounding And Bonding – Bonding is the electrical connection of all exposed metal objects that are not designed to carry electricity in a room or building. Grounding is the attachment of connected systems to the ground. Bonding and grounding are necessary to protect people and property from electrical hazards.

This guide explains how grounding and bonding work and the related 2020 and 2023 NEC requirements.

Grounding And Bonding

Electrical grounding, also known as grounding, connects electrical equipment to the ground. The goal is to create a conductive path for current to flow in the event of lightning strikes, accidental contacts, static charges and surges. In this case, discharges in grounded equipment will flow to earth instead of to sensitive equipment, sensitive circuits, or personnel.

Wiring For Light Fixtures

Wiring For Light Fixtures – I am installing a light fixture in my crawl space. The fixture has a set of hot, neutral and ground wires coming to the fixture from toilets as well as a set of hot, neutral and ground wires coming to the fixture from our radon system (see photo below).

The hot and neutral wires had nuts that connected them together for the radon system to work. The radon system was installed as part of our home purchase, so this is the first time I’ve looked at this fixture. Would it be ok to clamp both wires of the same type (hot, neutral, ground) under the relevant light fixture screws? I started connecting the light fixture with one wire of each, as shown below.

Electrical Safety Measures

Electrical Safety Measures – It is not necessary to express that electricity is so essential to all aspects of life and one cannot imagine living without it. You are at home, in the office, on the road or anywhere on planet earth, you are connected by electricity at every step of your life. You need electricity at work or when you are resting, cooking or doing anything. From the operating room to the simplest medicines, everything depends heavily on electricity. Some of us who are electricians, engineers, electronic technicians, line workers, etc. deal directly with electricity on a daily basis while others deal with electricity indirectly. Due to too much penetration of electricity in our lives, we only tend to understand the dangers that electricity brings to us, so we expose ourselves to electrical hazards very often.
